PRIORITY DISEASE AREAS: HIV/AIDS AND MALARIATraditional medicine has a central role to play in combating new and re-emerging diseases. Global priority is currently placed on combating malaria and HIV/AIDS and new partnerships between the communities of traditional medicine, public health and health research are being formed. Two diseases are addressed below, but partnerships are being developed with other diseases such as tuberculosis and control of vector-borne diseases such as trypanosomiasis.
